Biography

Artist Statement

I always liked Mark Rothko but never understood Jackson Pollock. After watching the movie "Pollock," I was inspired by the passion that gave rise to Pollock's work. Always drawn to and mesmerized by color, I now find inspiration from both Pollock's sense of motion and Rothko's depth of color. I used to try to capture the world as realist, but I have recently realized the Zen of abstract-expressionism.

Artist Profile

A native Vermonter, I graduated from the University of Vermont with a Studio Art major. I have recently returned to painting after a thirteen year hiatus. My cat, Zodiac (although slightly annoyed with the infringement on her laptime) keeps me company while I paint. My boyfriend's enthusiasm for my art continues to motivate me to put brush to canvas, even on my less creative days.
